Week 3: Lecture: Introduction to Photoshop

This lecture provides an overview of the essential features of Adobe Photoshop, including the use of various tools and layer management techniques. Key points covered include:

  1. Lasso and Pen Tools: The lecture introduces the Lasso and Pen tools, detailing their functions and practical applications. The Lasso tool allows for precise selection of specific areas within an image, making it indispensable for detailed editing.

  2. Types of Lasso Tools: There are three variations of the Lasso tool: the Normal Lasso, Edge Lasso, and Magnetic Lasso. Each type has its own unique advantages, catering to different selection needs and preferences.

  3. Drawing Tablets: When using a drawing tablet in conjunction with the Lasso tool, users often find it easier to create precise selections, enhancing their editing efficiency.

  4. Pen Tool Capabilities: The Pen tool is primarily used for creating smooth paths and shapes. The quality and smoothness of the lines drawn depend on the number of control points you add, allowing for both basic and intricate designs.

With the Pen tool, users can create a variety of shapes, including straight lines, U-curves, simple curves, and complex curves, showcasing its versatility in graphic design.

Overall, mastering these basic tools in Photoshop equips you with the skills necessary to elevate your editing capabilities and refine your creative projects.



Exercise

This week we learned how to use Photoshop for image cutouts. The teacher assigned us a task to create three different digital collages using the cutout tools and provided materials. As shown in the picture, this is my digital collage made by piecing together the cutout materials.










WEEK 3 - PEN TOOL EXERCISE (BEST COMPOSITION)



DESCRIPTION:


This week, my mentor provided feedback on my three digital collages online and selected the best one. The chosen design boldly features a black textured background, creating a cosmic starry effect. I arranged the provided green leaf elements and goldfish into a crescent shape, with a subway scene placed at the center.Additionally, I incorporated a typewriter and elements based on the golden ratio to enhance the composition.
