 Week 4: Lecture on Introduction to Photoshop 3

In this lecture, we explored the concept of adjustment layers in Photoshop, which serve as a powerful non-destructive editing tool. This feature allows you to modify the colors and tones of an image without permanently altering the original pixels, making it essential for flexible editing workflows.

Adjustment layers enable users to make changes while preserving the integrity of the original image, allowing for easy modifications or restorations at any time. When you add an adjustment layer, a new layer appears above the image, and the Properties panel specific to that adjustment opens automatically.

Tools Discussed:

• Brightness/Contrast Tool: This tool allows you to enhance the brightness and contrast of your image, ensuring that both highlights and shadows are optimally represented.

• Levels Tool: Widely regarded as one of the most useful features in the Adjustments panel, the Levels tool helps you fine-tune the tonal values of an image’s shadows, midtones, and highlights, facilitating a balanced exposure.

• Selective Color Adjustment Layers: This tool gives you the ability to adjust the intensity of a specific primary color without impacting the other colors in the image. This precision is invaluable for achieving the desired color balance and enhancing overall visual appeal.

  

By mastering these adjustment layers and tools, you can elevate your photo editing skills, ensuring that your images achieve the desired look while maintaining the flexibility to make changes as needed.

WEEK 3 - PEN TOOL EXERCISE (BEST COMPOSITION)

DESCRIPTION:

This week, my mentor provided feedback on my three digital collages online and selected the best one. The chosen design boldly features a black textured background, creating a cosmic starry effect. I arranged the provided green leaf elements and goldfish into a crescent shape, with a subway scene placed at the center.Additionally, I incorporated a typewriter and elements based on the golden ratio to enhance the composition.

WEEK 4 (ADJUSTMENT LAYERS & FILTERS )

DESCRIPTION:

According to my mentor’s guidance and instruction, I experimented with changing the colors of specific elements using the techniques taught in class. Reflecting on this process, I found it incredibly rewarding to see how subtle color adjustments can significantly impact the overall composition. It allowed me to explore my creativity further and deepen my understanding of color theory.
