REFLECTION
Experience
Through these three tasks, I learned so much about typography and how it works in design. In Task 1, I studied typographic systems and learned how alignment, hierarchy, and rhythm create clear structure. In Task 2, I designed a personal wordmark based on my identity, which taught me how type can reflect personality. For Task 3, I created my own font called Aesthetica. Compared to last semester, when I only designed a few letters, finishing a whole working font feels like a big achievement.
Observation
I noticed that small changes can make a big difference in how a font looks and feels. Adjusting stroke weight and spacing changed the tone of my design from flat to more elegant. Using grids and reference lines helped me keep letters consistent in height and width. I also learned that punctuation and numbers need the same care as letters so the whole set looks like one family. Applying Aesthetica to real products made me understand how fonts work in real life, not just on a design board.
Findings
The biggest thing I learned is that type design is about consistency and patience. It is not only about making letters look nice but also about making them work together as a system. Planning things like x-height, baseline, and proportions early makes the process smoother. This project also showed me that fonts can express personality when designed with meaning. Aesthetica represents elegance and simplicity, and that idea guided my design choices. In the end, I feel proud because I created something functional that can be used in real designs.
