Week 1: Composition Theory 2 - Perspective

In this week’s lecture, we explored the pivotal role technology plays in addressing societal needs, emphasizing that its implementation should prioritize maximizing social benefits.

To achieve this, continuous feedback mechanisms are essential, allowing us to refine and enhance our initiatives throughout their development. The project fosters a culture of open communication, which not only encourages the exchange of creative ideas but also cultivates collaboration among diverse teams.

The discussion highlighted the importance of collaborating with the right individuals, as this synergy can lead to more effective resource utilization. Regular evaluations of the project are crucial, ensuring we remain aligned with our goals and can adapt to any challenges that arise.

By integrating these principles, we can create a more responsive and innovative environment that truly meets the needs of society.

Week 2: COMPOSITION THEORY 3 - FORM, MID, AND BACKGROUND

  • Future Developments: The project's future analysis explores potential advancements and evolving trends.

  • Mesoscopic Component: The thesis emphasizes the significance of the mesoscopic component, illustrated through real-world application examples.

  • Theoretical Evaluation: The research context confirms the strengths and weaknesses of existing theories, providing valuable insights.

  • Importance of Teamwork: The thesis underscores that effective collaboration is crucial for the project's success.

  • Research Framework: The project offers a framework and resources that facilitate ongoing research efforts.

  • Week 3:Analysis of Characters and Their Impact on the Plot
  • Character Influence: The paper examines how characters shape the narrative, focusing on their roles in advancing the plot.

  • Main Character's Goal: The protagonist has a clear objective, driving the storyline forward.

  • Conflict Dynamics: The central conflict arises from the antagonist's efforts to thwart the protagonist, creating tension and drama.

  • Diverse Roles: Stories feature a variety of characters, each fulfilling unique roles that contribute to the overall narrative.

  • Significance of Main Characters: Main characters are essential to the storyline, as they embody the central themes and conflicts.

  • Protagonist's Complexity: The protagonist does not need to be morally upright; their complexity should evoke emotional responses from the audience.

  • Role of the Villain: The antagonist can be a person, place, object, or situation that obstructs the protagonist from reaching their goals, adding depth to the conflict.

  • Exercises: Task 2: Composition

Objective: Place your Vormator character into a Pokemon card composition, incorporating foreground, midground, and background elements. You may also create a new shape not bound by the vormator rules or shapes. You may also come up with a new character that does is not bound by the vormator shapes.

Tools to Use: Pathfinder, Shape Builder tool, Knife tool. You may also use other warping tools that will be introduced in the following weeks.

    Steps:
      1. Apply color and shadow to your Vormator character to enhance its visual appeal.
      2. Design a composition that effectively uses foreground, midground, and background to tell a soft narrative about your character.
      3. Create a Pokemon card layout featuring your character, including its name, powers, and ability ratings.
      4. Write a brief description of your Pokemon, explaining its abilities and characteristics.

    Draft Pokemon Monster

    Framed Ink Reference

    Draft

    Framed Ink

I designed a pink, cat-like creature adorned with a hat resembling a lotus leaf. This character has a quiet and mysterious demeanor, and it possesses the ability to heal teammates and provide various buffs. Additionally, it can use its unique powers to confound enemies. As a Grass-type Pokémon, its role leans more towards support rather than being a front-line attacker. This design emphasizes its nurturing qualities, making it a valuable asset to any team.

    Final Composition

I named it Veilpurr, combining 'veil' and 'purr' to highlight its mysterious and gentle qualities. As a Grass-type Pokémon, she enjoys tranquility, and its habitat reflects its serene personality. Dreamy and mysterious, it resembles an untouchable spirit of nature.

    Feedback:
After showing my character sketch to the teacher and describing its setting, the teacher said it was a good idea, but he felt that I needed to pay more attention to the background design. He advised me to choose a template/example in Framed Ink to apply the character and the story that I just described.

    Reflection

Experience: Initially, I intended to use the Vormator monster I had created, but I soon discovered some limitations. So, I decided to redesign a new monster, especially since this time there were no graphical constraints. However, starting over meant I had to invest more time and creativity to complete this task.

Observation: Recreating a new character is quite challenging, especially when it comes to designing a scene for it. Pinterest has been incredibly helpful in providing brilliant ideas when I was short on inspiration, significantly alleviating my difficulties.

Findings:Although creating the cards was not an easy task, I felt a profound sense of satisfaction and joy as I watched my ideas evolve from sketches into finished products. It was akin to bringing a child or a small world to life, which made the entire experience incredibly rewarding. This assignment not only challenged my creativity but also allowed me to express my thoughts visually. Each step of the process, from brainstorming to the final touches, was a fascinating journey that deepened my appreciation for the art of design.
