Experience
Creating this poster was a personal journey for me. I chose my self-portrait as the focal point and blended it with classical architecture through double exposure. This design choice symbolized my connection to history and highlighted how our identities are shaped by the past. Working on this project felt like a dialogue between my personal experiences and the broader historical narrative.
Observation
While designing, I realized how much each element contributes to the overall message. The quote "Heritage—The past is not dead; it is not even past" resonated deeply with me. I selected elegant fonts to give it a timeless feel. The warm colors and traditional patterns I chose added depth and a sense of nostalgia. This combination created an atmosphere that encouraged viewers to think about their own relationships with history.
Findings
This process taught me that design is more than just visuals; it’s a way to tell stories and provoke thought. I gained insight into how our identities are intertwined with our heritage, which sparked a desire to keep exploring this theme in my work. Overall, this project not only enhanced my design skills but also deepened my appreciation for history and its impact on who we are.
Feedback:
I received helpful feedback on my poster design from Mr. Hafiz, who emphasized enhancing the theme of "Heritage." He suggested incorporating more heritage elements into each letter and making the text more visually engaging. He appreciated the double exposure and noted its East Asian writing direction. Additionally, repositioning the smaller part of the quote behind the main image could add depth, and balancing negative space with the fonts would improve the overall design.
