EXERCISE 1

What should we do?

Choose FIVE (5) websites from the link given. Review the website that you've selected carefully, taking note of its design, layout, content, and functionality. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of the website, and consider how they impact the user experience. Write a brief report summarising your findings and recommendations.

What To Have in The Analysis:

Consider the purpose and goals of the website, and evaluate whether they are effectively communicated to the user. Evaluate the visual design and layout of the website, including its use of color, typography, and imagery. Consider the functionality and usability of the website, including its navigation, forms, and interactive elements. Evaluate the quality and relevance of the website's content, including its accuracy, clarity, and organization. Consider the website's performance, including its load times, responsiveness, and compatibility with different devices and browsers.

Deliverables:

Write a brief report summarizing in not less than 200 words for each website analysis. You can include a screen capture of each section or page of the website to explain. Make sure that the formatting of the report is clear (heading/subheadings).

1. Noomo Valentime https://valentime.noomoagency.com

Noomo Valentime, created by Noomo Agency, is an immersive 3D web experience designed to reinterpret the story of St. Valentine. The site uses soft pink and white tones to evoke romance and features smooth 3D animations like flower petals and particle effects. Its user-friendly layout allows easy navigation through scrolling and clicking. Users can also personalize a digital heart-shaped object to share with others. Despite its visually rich design, the site loads quickly and works well across devices. However, the lack of multilingual support limits accessibility for non-English speakers. Adding language options could broaden its global reach.

The website presents smooth 3D animation effects

The interactive function of DIY customized Heart Stone is provided, which increases the fun and user participation

2. Spazio Genio https://www.spaziogenio.com

Spazio Genio is a website dedicated to custom furniture and spatial design for the food industry. Its pastel color scheme creates a light, appetizing feel, aligning well with its target audience. The site’s layout is minimalistic, emphasizing case studies through images and videos. Interactive elements like dynamic subtitles and background transitions enhance user experience without overwhelming. Navigation is smooth, and loading speed is reliable. The homepage header lacks engaging visual elements. Introducing animations or video content to the main banner could improve the site’s first impression and draw in visitors more effectively.

The cover design of the homepage is a bit monotonous

Dynamic subtitle scrolling is very eye-catching

The color scheme adopts the macaron color series

The transition is smooth and natural, and the visual experience is excellent

3. Circora Studio https://www.circorastudio.com

Circora Studio specializes in interior design, and its website adopts a minimalist aesthetic with a black and beige palette. While this creates a clean look, it can feel overly plain and visually flat. Typography is clear but oversized, making reading less comfortable on desktops. The navigation is intuitive, and the site is mobile-responsive, ensuring accessibility. However, it lacks dynamic features or strong visual rhythm to keep users engaged. Adding more color variety, resizing text for better readability, and introducing motion elements could significantly enhance the browsing experience and highlight the studio’s creativity more effectively.

The overall style is simple and elegant

The design is a bit monotonous and lacks a sense of layering

4. Fondazione Stauffer https://www.stauffer.org

Fondazione Stauffer’s website showcases a prestigious Italian music academy focused on string instruments. It uses a professional, minimalist design with clear typography and striking imagery. The structure is well-organized, with top-level navigation guiding users through programs, faculty, events, and news. It supports both Italian and English, broadening accessibility. The site performs smoothly across devices and browsers. Interactive features like online registration are missing, which limits user engagement. Adding booking tools and integrating social media could enhance functionality and outreach. Visually, a few black-and-white sections feel off-tone; aligning them with the rest of the site’s aesthetic would improve consistency.

The color combination is a bit out of place

5. Dr. Leandra Isler https://www.leandra-isler.ch/en

Dr. Leandra Isler’s website presents a warm, natural theme that aligns with her holistic health practice in Zurich. The color palette of soft beige and green fosters a sense of calm and trust. The site includes detailed service descriptions, a personal biography, health-related blog articles, and an online appointment feature. It’s mobile-friendly and loads efficiently. The layout is clean, with ample white space and high-quality visuals. Some text sizes are overly large, slightly affecting readability. Introducing multi-language support and adjusting font sizes would improve accessibility and broaden its international appeal.

REFLECTION

Through this task, I learned how to evaluate websites from different perspectives, such as design, content, and user experience. It was interesting to see how each site uses color, layout, and interactivity to create a certain feeling.

I noticed that websites with smooth animations and clear navigation, like Noomo Valentime, feel more engaging. On the other hand, some sites, like Circora Studio, look clean but too plain, which makes them less attractive. I also observed that font size and color choices can really affect readability.

A good website needs balance—clear structure, strong visuals, and useful features. Small details like multi-language options, responsive design, and interactive elements make a big difference in user experience. This task helped me understand how design decisions impact how users feel and interact with a site.
