REFLECTION

Over the past 14 weeks, I have experienced an incredibly rich and rewarding journey through the world of film sound design, directing, and visual effects.

In Project 1, I gained a completely new understanding of how powerful sound can be in storytelling. Reconstructing just seven seconds of film audio taught me the importance of timing, emotion, and precision. I had to learn how to sync dialogue with lips and expressions, adjust volume and tone, and choose the right sound effects to create believable atmospheres. Through voice transformation exercises, I discovered how tools like EQ, reverb, pitch, and distortion can turn a normal voice into something entirely different—like an alien, or a person inside a closet. This project showed me that sound design is both technical and deeply expressive.

Project 2 shifted my focus to directing and cinematography. Taking on the role of director was both exciting and demanding. I learned to guide actors, manage time on set, and make aesthetic decisions under pressure. Post-production, especially color grading, helped me understand how visual tone and emotion are shaped by subtle color changes. Every decision—from lighting to editing rhythm—contributes to how the audience feels.

The Final Project introduced me to the world of VFX. I learned how to composite more realistically by paying attention to details like motion blur and shot stability. Teamwork played a huge role—we divided tasks, solved problems together, and built something we were proud of. Most importantly, I realized how vital pre-production planning is to a smooth workflow. A shaky shot or poor lighting can cost hours in post.

Through all these projects, I’ve developed a deeper appreciation for every stage of the filmmaking process—from sound to shooting to effects. These 14 weeks have not only equipped me with tools and knowledge, but have also strengthened my mindset: to be curious, patient, and willing to try.
